A ground-breaking new exploration of Mozart’s life spanning the next three decades

In 2015 Classical Opera and conductor Ian Page will embark on MOZART 250, a bold and far-reaching new project which will travel 250 years back in time to follow the chronological trajectory of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s life and work, over nearly 30 years.

Each year Classical Opera will devote a substantial part of its season to exploring the music that was being written and performed by Mozart and his contemporaries 250 years previously, and MOZART 250 will incorporate performances of all Mozart’s major works, including all the operas, oratorios and concert arias, most of the symphonies and concertos and many of the chamber and instrumental compositions. All of these works will be presented during the 250th anniversary of their composition or premiére, and the project will also incorporate key compositions by influential contemporaries such as Haydn, Gluck and Johann Christian Bach.
